Places to Visit - June Blake's Garden in Wicklow
I was supposed to go again yesterday with Photography Club but I wasn't feeling well, so myself and Mark went today instead, as I was feeling a little bit better. It was pretty busy but plenty of space for parking and although we got there quite late (it must have been nearly 4), we didn't feel too rushed and there were still lots of people admiring the flowers.
It really is the most incredible space to relax - the gardens are literally a riot of colour at this time of year and the amount of bees and insects buzzing around was quite incredible to see. This is particularly heartening when there are so many articles about how our insect population is diminishing. The gardens are small and serene, not perhaps the place to go if you fancy a walk, but more the kind of place to spend an hour or two relaxing between viewing gardens and having coffee. It is situated just outside Blessington in Wicklow, on the N81 heading towards Dublin. It is fairly well signposted - you just need to keep an eye out for the signs once you are about 5 min outside Blessington. You could also visit Huntingbrook gardens on the same day if you wanted to make a longer outing of it. Jimi Blake and June are brother and sister and both incredibly talented horticulturists.
We had a very pleasant time, the weather was warm but not too bright for photos which was just perfect for me so, without further ado, I shall share some of the delights of the gardens.
The carrot cake was gorgeous, fluffy and light with delicious frosting and coffee fresh and strong!
I can highly recommend this lovely spot and now is the perfect time to visit whilst there is so much vibrancy in the gardens and the weather is still nice.
Some stunning pictures here, it looks like you had a nice chilled out day.
