Baker Days Letterbox Cake Review

I was recently sent one of the fabulous letterbox cakes from Baker Days - we had been in contact to discuss exactly what I wanted and, as my daughter SĂomha was in hospital at the time, I decided on a 'Get Well Soon' cake. I wasn't totally sure if the Irish fada (the little accent on the 'i' of her name) would be ok to do, but there was no problem at all!
The wonderful thing about these little cakes is that they are sent by post and are just 5 inches in diameter so they will fit through the letterbox. (Although it was slightly big for our letterbox but it wasn't a problem as the postman just knocked on the door).
I was really impressed with the cake and with how professional and lovely the presentation is. To be perfectly honest, I thought the price on the website was a tiny bit steep but when it arrived I totally changed my mind. I loved the little touches and, as I said, the presentation was impeccable.
It arrived in a cardboard box and inside was a small tin with the cake inside, as well as a cute card and a mini packet of love hearts, it's the little things!

I picked the cat cake cos we all love cats :)

The instructions for removing the cake from the tin were very clear, there's a little tab to pull up (the cake has a cellophane-type cover for protection). So it's easy to get out without damaging the look and it comes on a little board so can be served just as it is.

The cake itself is yum, the ingredients are excellent quality and it tastes like a proper homemade cake. Vanilla sponge with buttercream and edible ink for the design, it's really good.

I was also very impressed with their clear list of ingredients - as daughter number two has severe food allergies, we constantly read labels and the list is in plain sight with allergens highlighted in bold.
Unfortunately as Izzy has an egg allergy she couldn't try this particular one but I was delighted to see that Baker Days do cater for food allergies and coeliac disease as you can select gluten/wheat free as an option and there is also an option to select dairy free. (Both options are £2.00 extra).

You can also pick chocolate chip sponge or fruitcake if you prefer for a small additional cost.

Each letterbox cake has about 3 to 4 portions but you could probably squeeze a few more portions with small slices.

Here's our first slice, it seemed almost a shame to cut into the pretty design!

I think the great thing about the Baker Days products is the fact that they can be posted and would make such a nice, personal, surprise gift - ideal if someone lives far away and you can't get to see them.

The range available is huge, from Communion to Birthday to Driving test cakes, even photo cakes!
You can also get cupcakes with personalised text.

I found Baker Days to be lovely to deal with, quick and efficient with delivery and I know I keep going on about this, but presentation is really important to me and they definitely get top marks in that area :)

You can find Baker Days on Social Media here:

And check the Baker Days website for full details on pricing, range and delivery.
