When things go wrong and other thoughts

I was thinking recently that advertising a little business on social media involves being bright and chirpy all the time - naturally, because you want people to see the best stories and the successes. What's also true, though, is that we little businesses have our down days and disappointments as well. Days when things just aren't going right, when sales don't seem to be happening, when design projects aren't working. The little candle below is just one example - I was trying to get the wick right and was sure that this was the one. As you can see from the picture though, it didn't work out and I'll have to try again!

Then I had a mishap with one of my favourite little china cups - a very windy (and cold!) market day meant that the little cup was knocked over whilst I was trying to hold on to my tent and this was the result -

These are just a few examples of small things that can go amiss but I think that overcoming hurdles is part of running a business and you just have to keep moving onwards and upwards! I'm also blessed in that I've met a network of other people who, like me, are building their businesses. They're always great for a chat, for inspiration, for encouragement, for laughs :)

And on that note, I'm off to follow my own advice and get some candles made :)
